Fascinated by TomKat
I am slightly embarrassed to say that I have been fascinated with the whole Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes breakup. I find myself reading Yahoo news feeds that pop up and looking at pictures of Katie and Suri having ice cream. Now, this wouldn’t be so unusual if I were a fan of either Tom Cruise or Katie Holmes – but I’m not. I’ve seen some of their movies, but I can’t say that I am particularly impressed with either of them. I was aware of their very public romance and subsequent marriage (I mean everyone knows about the coach jumping scene on Oprah) but didn’t particularly care. So why the fascination with their breakup?
I can only suppose it is because it is coming across more like a daring escape in broad daylight (kind of like Melanie Griffith in Shining Through). It’s really none of my business (in spite of People magazine and the Today Show trying to make me feel like it is), but there’s just something about this story that has my attention.
I need to turn my attention to something important – like discovering that there are no 7-Elevens within 50 miles of me – so I couldn’t get my free Slurpee yesterday! This is tragic, but I can celebrate Krispy Kreme’s birthday on Friday with getting a second dozen original glazed for only 75 cents, so maybe things aren’t that bad after all.
Don't tell, but I am equally fascinated by TomKat and am NOT a Cruise fan by any stretch of the imagination. I feel like I'm waiting for the footage of the rogue Scientology faction to grab her and Suri and run away with them!
As for Slurpees, I'm so sorry you missed your free one. It was divine! 😉
Don't fret. There are maybe three or more 7-Elevens near me and I STILL can't get what I want…which isn't a slurpee, LOL. There is a location over in another township that sells these delicious everything pretzels, but it's like one-hour away.
I don't understand why all of them don't have it. One dozen Krispy Kremes for 75 cents is a nice deal that I'd probably take on…if I wasn't going to be surrounded by cool cafes, bars, etc. in NYC! — that beats Krispy Kreme any time, in my book, lol.

*giggles* It's like a train wreck isn't it? I can go along with that escape analysis. I don't dislike Cruise so much that I can't ignore that it's him (meaning I can like his movies in spite of not liking him much–which puts him in sharp contrast with Mel Gibson, but never mind). I sort of like Katie Holmes, but I've only seen her in a few things. I've always thought though, in real life that HE was a fruitcase and she would be well shot of him.
Do you need someone to share your doughnuts with? I'm available. Can I bring my family?
Celebrities are people just like the rest of us. I personally don't understand all the hype over these two.
ummmm, I actually bought two People magazines in the last month because of those two… fascinating… and I don't think I ever saw a Katie movie!
