Jealousy
Okay, so I’m struggling with a bit of jealousy right now. Mostly writer jealousy. “Who you, you humble sweet perfect woman?” you might respond. “Yes, me,” I would respond in quiet despair . . . Okay – maybe not. Anyway, I am jealous of:
Elizabeth Esther – a blogger I have followed for awhile that I really enjoy reading. I’m jealous she has an agent BEFORE she’s written her book!
Sylvia – a new friend in my writer’s group who has a book being published this summer.
Alex Cavanaugh who is a wonderful blog friend to me, but has two books published, keeps an incredible blog going, and manages to be a supportive friend to everyone on the Internet.
And then to top it off, Jessica Alba not only looks fantastic, but is a mom to two little kids and runs her own business (healthy baby diapers) and is on the cover of Marie Claire this month.
There, I’m done whining today.
- Elizabeth – I am happy to know that I followed you before you got your agent and I hope I get to meet you someday.
- Sylvia – see you next month and I am very happy we’re in a group together.
- Alex – you’re fantastic and I appreciate you.
- Jessica, well . . . what can I say.
Here’s a video about jealousy . . . it doesn’t really apply to what I wrote, but though not a country fan I’ve just always thought this song was great. Enjoy!
Feel better now?
Thank you for the kind words, Sheila!
Nice posting. I am often intimidated by the writers/author blogs it is so bad that I often have no idea what to leave in a comment. I know that sounds sad. I once left a comment on one awhile back only to find the comment had been critiqued and pointed out improper punctuation and I should have used a semi colon here and a comma there. I wanted to go back and leave another comment that said, Please turn off your comments, but I didn't.
Great song! I think jealousy is totally normal, just as long as you don't take a Louisville slugger to anyone or their car, it is all good. I have felt like this too, but like you, I always want my blogger friends to do great too.
Celebs bug me when they comment that "parenting is hard" yet they have a team behind them assisting every which way so no wonder they look so good a month after birth!
Just passing though on my road trip round the A to Z blogs, nice to meet you
Yes, it is hard to NOT compare ourselves with others – others who are doing what we'd like to be doing. I have to tell myself often, that LIFE IS SHORT and to not waste it by giving too much attention to the lives of others. Be selfish and enjoy your own life! 🙂
I love that song. lol
Great post. Bitterly honest. Most of us think of jealously as an ugly word, so we pretend we aren't jealous. Glad to see you saying what we are all feeling.
I love the song too 😀
