Minions and Smartphones
The Blogging from A to Z Challenge will be here before you know it. I have participated for the past two years, and that’s how I’ve met most of my wonderful blog friends. I encourage you to join us for a great time. This exercise will really stretch you as a blogger and you can meet some really neat people along the way (and they get to meet you too!).
This year I have been chosen to be on the Mighty Madlab Minions Team helping out one of the co-hosts, Nicole from The Madlab Post. I am looking forward to seeing the challenge from a slightly different perspective.
I haven’t chosen my theme yet, maybe I won’t have one this year. I have the previous two years, but nothing has come to me yet. But, I still have time for some wonderful creative idea to pop into my head.
On another note, my family jumped into the 21st century this week and moved into the world of smartphones. The learning curve hasn’t been as bad as I thought it might be, but with an iPhone I’m finding it’s all pretty user friendly. The biggest challenge is working to keep the data usage down. We turned the cellular off, planning to only use wi-fi whenever it is available, saving the data for real need. Interestingly I couldn’t set up my voice mail until I turned it on. But once I had it set up, I could turn it off and I get my voice mail just fine. Sneaky. Hey – maybe I’ll set my April theme around Smartphones! Hmmm . . . have to think about that one.
Congratulations on being one of Nicole's Minions!
I'm still fighting cell phones in general, but and iPhone would be my choice since I'm used to using my iPad.
I am so glad that I am not the only one who hasn't come up with a theme! I've yet to move into the 21st century. In fact I'm thinking that I should get a rotary phone!
🙂
I've had a cell phone for some time, but we decided it was time to jump to smart phones. So far I admit I love my iPhone.
I'm still thinking, but I generally don't come up with it until a bit closer anyway :). A rotary phone, now I haven't seen that in a few years!
CONGRATS on being a minion! : )
From one Madlab Post minion to another, best of luck with your A – Z! And enjoy your phone too!
I have really enjoyed the past two A-Z challenges, and signed up again this year. Still trying to decide on a theme, but I like to write at least one or two posts ahead so I need to get crackin'. Enjoy your role in the challenge!
You're not alone; I haven't come up with a theme yet either. Or rather, I trashed the theme that I had back in January and now I'm scrambling to figure out what to blog about. I'm glad to have you on my team 🙂
Many of my friends and family laughed at me for a long time for continuing to use an old flip phone but I upgraded to a Smartphone about five months ago. I agree with you that the learning curve isn't as steep as one would think.
My data usage went over a few times, which just slowed down some features of the phone. All has gone relatively well….until it was stolen a week ago. Yikes! I guess I'll have to be more cautious when bar hopping with drunken strangers for a friend's birthday celebration.

Those data charges will create a new mortgage for you, if you're not careful. I simply can't afford an iPhone so, have settled for a cheaper version. Except for the name, it's all the same.
For Christmas, I bought my wife an iPad. Now that's a cool piece of machinery. It's almost as sexy as my wife!
Good luck on your theme, I just came up with mine (introducing it on Wednesday).
No more bar hopping for you 🙂
We have all the data usage turned off on our phones, the kids only use whatever wifi is available – which is plentiful around here. My husband and I are saving the data for us to use in emergencies. So, hopefully that will save us. We got our iPhones for $1 because we recommitted to Verizon for two years.
Haven't ventured into iPads, but I know they are cool. In the same league with your wife? I think not 🙂
Looking forward to reading your posts 🙂
It should be interesting to be a minion AND a poster! Good luck to you too.
Thanks!
