Not a Teenager Anymore
Today is my firstborn’s 20th birthday. He’s not a teenager anymore. I know this not only because of his birthday, but also having just spent a week with him while he was home on spring break. Today he is declaring his major (I think that’s pretty cool to declare on your birthday) – Ethics in Social Institutions with a minor in Philosophy.
I know lots of people like to complain about how immature young adults are now, and I do think there is some truth to that. But overall I think our young adults are doing well. Just because they make mistakes or even poor choices doesn’t mean they aren’t on track. I know that my kids have learned so much more than I did at their age, it blows my mind. Fortunately my son takes mercy on me and converses with me on my level, not his.
I am incredibly proud of you my son – Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday to your son!
I know some kids who are screwed up, but I know some that are light years of where I was at that age.
Happy birthday to your "boy." Who isn't so much of a boy anymore, huh?
Sounds like a fine young man and looks like he plans on making a difference. You should be proud.
Happy Birthday! We have all made mistake at that age and are probably still making them. Young people don't get enough credit.
Happy birthday , he sounds like a mature and responsible young man. My teen daughters are giving me the scare of my life. We are in Florida for spring break and they think they are too big for their britches and for their mom to set limitations on their evening activities.
Hi, I am a new follower. I am making the rounds and introducing myself to all of the A to Z blogging challenge helpers. I have been on a self imposed blogging hiatus ( a few of my favorite agents have requested my manuscript so I've been working non stop), but I will be back next Monday, ready for A-to Z and I will visit your blog then.
Now that sounds like an interesting major. Here's wishing him all the best. And to you and your husband for doing such a great job getting him to this point in his life. Well done!
