Venison
My dad was never a huge hunter, but he did hunt from time to time when I was growing up. One time when I was in 4th grade (as best I can remember), he went hunting with some men in our church for deer. I don’t know how many of them there were (hunters that is), but I do know that Dad came home with his share of his first deer. My mom was never one to shy away from any cooking challenge. She concocted a wonderful dish of cubed up venison steak with a rich, peppery gravy. All I remember is that it tasted delicious. I haven’t eaten much (if any) venison since that time, but I shall always remember that winter of venison fondly.

Hi Sheila,
Great use of the letter V. My husband and grandson deer hunt on our property in the country every year. We have relatives who drive 1200 miles from Massachusetts to hunt on our land, too. I don't get it, but they go home with several deer, so I guess it's worth the trip.
Have a great day!

I really love venison. Hubby hunts deer and elk, as well as pheasant. Here in Wyoming it's a way of life.
I lived in Colorado for two years and saw countless truck beds with headless deer, not the fondest of memories for me. I'm not sure I've ever tasted it, but many people in Colorado have 🙂
I've had venison numerous times, but I can't say that I really care for it. Too "gamey" for me. 🙂
I've had venison chili, which was very good. Would have never known the chili was made with venison if I hadn't been told. I've never cooked venison myself, because I've always worried about the gamey taste if I didn't prepare it right.
Not a big fan of deer. Although I do recall my aunt serving me up a plate without my knowledge.
