Watches . . . one of my favorite things
Watches are cool. Even though I carry a cell phone all the time and frequently check it to see what time it is, I still wear a watch. I think they are so expressive. Wearing a watch makes me feel as if I have some sort of control over time (hah – delusional I know!). I also choose to wear an analog watch – digital seems so impersonal. Being able to “tell time” was such an accomplishment when I was a child, and wearing a watch was a badge of honor.
I feel naked if I leave the house without mine.
I like watches too. I have a beautiful silver filigree one that was my grandmother's. It needs to be wound and doesn't keep time well but I love it.
I used to wear watches a lot in high school and college but then stopped over the years. Part of the reason is because since I would wear one watch until it starts falling apart, an old boyfriend bought me a new one because he got tired of looking at my "raggedy" one. The thing is, that new one didn't have a snug fit and it would move as a result, so I only wore it on special occasions. Another part of the reason I stopped wearing watches might have something to do with the growing popularity of cell phones and other mobile devices over the years.
I have a silver one that my Aunt gave me but I never wear it because the battery died and I don't know how to fix it. It's really dressy though, so I rarely have any formal occasions where I would wear it. There's nothing like a good watch though!

I love wrist watches and find them indispensable. I dont think a cell phone watch can replace the one we wear on our wrists!
I haven't worn a watch for years, mainly because I prefer the metal bracelet, or bangle type, and started to have skin reactions.
I take your point though, watch wearing should perhaps be like a badge of honour, I know my poor daughter really struggled to learn telling the time.
Enjoyed reading your post, thank you for sharing.
If can find one with a decent armband, which is never the case with me.
