Y + enta = YENTA
yen·ta noun ˈyen-tə: one that meddles; also: blabbermouth, gossip
definition from http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/yenta
This post makes me think back to my second post of this challenge when I did B for Babble. A Yenta often babbles, the need to “tell” can mean a constant stream of talk and gossip comes out of it. On the other hand, a Babbler will often gossip without meaning to, but that much “talk” is bound to have some gossip in it.
I don’t want to be a Yenta, one who gossips or is a blabbermouth. But as much as I try to guard against that, I need to remember not to listen to it either.
I think I work with a few Yentas…
I believe jenta in Norwegian means girls. Dare I go on?
I try not to be a yenta, but sometimes (especially if I'm hurt or angry) it is easy to fall into it. I agree listening to it is just as bad as doing it. Great choice for Y!
Yenta-ing is almost irresistable!
fun post!
I agree…listening to Yenta is just as bad as being a Yenta. We shouldn't feed the wolf.
When I listen to a yenta I realize I may eventually be one the topics of her future blabberings.
Hope you'll join us for The A to Z Challenge Reflections Post on Monday May 2nd.

Lots of us talk too much now and then. It's not the biggest crime ever.
Mm hmm. As an elementary school parent and a skating Mom, I spend a lot of time with more than a few yentas…I do try very hard not to participate, but I will say that their topics are occasionally more interesting than those of the preschoolers I spend my days with (and occasionally, I would prefer to listen to the ramblings of a three year old over a yenta!)
Thanks for following!
