Wednesday I went to my writers group which has been on hiatus since November. We decided to do some creative writing on the spot. Two prompts were provided, about one minute to ponder and then the timer was set for 15 minutes. Everyone wrote like crazy and at the end we shared with each other what we had written. It was amazing how much we got done! Here is the prompt I chose: “She seemed like such a sweet old lady. Who would ever believe that she was really . . .” It was great to see how people could take the same prompt and come up with different story lines. For me this was a great exercise for a couple of reasons.<\/p>\n

I wrote in longhand with pen and paper and it was great! I loved feeling the words spill forth on the page with no spell check or instant correction.<\/li>\n

The time clock gave me a sense of urgency that I have not felt since I took part in NaNoWriMo<\/a> in November 2010.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
I think I’m going to try this once a week. I felt so energized by this.<\/p>\n
My other project for the month is trying The Month of Letters Challenge<\/a>. I forgot on Thursday, but will mail two today to make up for it. Check it out – I think all writers should do this!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
