I was at the library last weekend and picked up this book just for fun. It was in the juvenile section (you know, the same place Harry Potter, Nancy Drew, and all those other childish books are).<\/p>\n

I had no preconceived notions since I’d never heard of it. It was delightful. It’s easy to read (that’s what makes it a juvenile book I suppose) about a 12-year-old girl who seems be completely blind to herself. As the book unfolds however, you discover that she is painfully aware of who\/what she is -and her magnificent view of herself is only a coping mechanism. She’s presented with a seemingly straightforward task that opens her eyes not only to another world beyond this realm but also a glimpse into her own past that both answers questions and creates a whole new set.<\/p>\n

This reminds me of a cross between Series of Unfortunate Events and a very mild Harry Potter (book one). I have no problem encouraging my great-niece who is in fourth grade and my great-nephew who is in second grade to read it.<\/p>\n

I didn’t know this was a series when I picked it up, but now I’ve discovered it’s a “Book One” – and I plan to get book two!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
