F + ugacious = FUGACIOUS
fugacious fyoo-GAY-shuhs , adjective;
1. Lasting but a short time; fleeting. http://www.dictionary.com/
Forsythia blooms are so fugacious. I love seeing them burst into yellow profusion, but then they are too quickly gone. My spurts of creative energy tend to be fugacious. I burst into action like the blooming of the forsythia, but then before I know it my blooms are gone and only the green stems of life are there.
I am learning how important those green stems of life are though. If the bush is not kept healthy the rest of the year, the yellow blooms will not come. Or what does come is weak and unappealing.
Though a forsythia only blooms for a short while, its beautiful profusion of color imbeds itself in my memory and I anxiously await its next showing. I hope my work will someday be like that – that it will be worth the wait. That means that I must tend to the bush (my life) the rest of the time, like writing when I don’t feel like it, pruning away the deadweight of my efforts, watering the seeds of creativity through artistic exposure, and taking care of myself in all the areas of my life, keeping it all in balance.
There are so many wonderful words out there … but we simply don't know or regocnize them … or in that particular case, the English word is much lovlier than the German equivalent, which would be kurzlebig. Thanks for taking my attention to the beauty of language! 🙂

We must be evergreens! Which is tough some days.
I will enjoy my fugacious moments of chocolate. And savor the meat that makes me strong. That's an interesting word for sure!
I love this word! I'm thinking that the time with my children is fugacious, thinking ahead to when they are grown and gone is hard to do, but I'm realizing that it is going to happen. Will keep this metaphor in mind as I plan for the future and enjoy every minute with them today!
Well said!
My writing is fugacious as well. I used to resent that fact, but realized that the lull in the writing is only my mind's way of preparing for the next rush.
🙂
I'm enjoying how your featured word is more than meets the eye. Wonderful.
Oh to see colour again.
Like the way you tied your life and work in with the forsythia blooms.

Thoughtful post, I like how you linked life with the forsythia. Forsythia are pretty, and I love watching them bloom. I feel the same way with our crab apple trees. They have these wonderful white blossoms for a brief bit of time before the petals give way to leaves.
great post! My mom has a large forsythia plant in her back yard. It's her favorite!
I'm a new follower from the a-z challenge. Nice to meet you!

This has been my favorite word so far – unless it is tomorrows . . .
Thank you to all the new followers, I'm trying to get to your blogs as soon as I can. Have a great evening, I hope it is not too fugacious!
