Imaginary Jesus – A Book Review
I’m not a big non-fiction reader, at least not since I got past the new parenting stage where I read all the parenting books I could. I’m really more of a mystery (Anne Perry) or fantasy (Tolkien, Lewis, Rowling) reader. But I’m always on the lookout for free Kindle books (most of my print books come used from Edward McKay), and this one popped up this week under the limited time promotions. It looked interesting (and did I mention it was free!), so I downloaded it. Here’s my review.
I found Imaginary Jesus by Matt Mikalatos to be a cross between Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller and The Shack by William Young. If you liked either one of them, I think you’ll like this. Matt took me on a journey. A journey into my past, my present and pointed me toward my future. This book is written those of us who have been part of the Christian faith for awhile and may not even realize we’ve replaced the Real Jesus for an Imaginary One. Amongst the humorous and the outrageous words (the book starts with Chapter Zero – how cool is that?), I began to suspect that at times I too have had an Imaginary Jesus hanging around.
I recommend this book to those who have a slight niggling doubt about the Jesus they follow, or the Jesus they see others following. Maybe he’s more than a guy in a robe, sash and sandals. Maybe it’s time to look outside the box.
This does sound interesting. I may check it out. I'm with you I like books that have a fun story to it. I know you are interested in writing reviews and I found this http://business2blogger.com/ . I'm interested as well. What do you think of it?

Sheila,
Thanks for the great review! I'm glad you enjoyed Imaginary Jesus.
Red Nomad Oz — You should be able to find a copy downunder, I've had several people write me who read it there. If you can't find it send me a note and I'll help surface a copy!
