Learning My Limits
Yeah! The temperature outside is finally “fallish!”. The high today is 68 and this morning it was 44 when I got up. For those who read my whiny post on Monday – today I am ecstatic!
As to learning my limits, I am realizing that while I CAN do a lot of things, I ENJOY doing a lot of things – sometimes I have to let someone else do it. Case in point:
I am being given a wonderful opportunity to travel next January with my MIL and SIL for a long weekend in the Caribbean to celebrate a milestone birthday (actually that’s just an excuse – but I’ll take it). Now I LOVE to make vacation/travel plans. I love the thrill of the hunt for airfare, accommodations, and activities. In fact, I just pulled off a major family trip this past summer to California (see previous posts for details) that was a smashing success. However, this time it is 1) a super busy time for me right now with work and 2) out of the country which puts in a lot more unknowns. We decided to work with a travel agent which is actually kind of great, but . . .
I realize I am addicted to praise. I love the thrill of pulling off a major “coup”, and the accolades that come with it. I never realized that until now. I am typically a behind the scenes person. If I were to work on television – I wouldn’t look to be the actor, but their personal assistant. I don’t want to be President, but being the President’s secretary however . . .
I’m learning more about myself every day. This time I’ll just have to get my thrills from going to a fabulous place with great family/friends and enjoying the experience. But don’t worry, I’m not giving up, there will be future “coups” to pull off!
