N + eighborly = NEIGHBORLY
I have been delighted during this blog challenge to find out how neighborly bloggers can be! People who drop in, say hello, encourage each other and move on. Some come back for repeat visits, some are one time only. And all of it is okay!
I wonder why we do that online but not in person? Are we so afraid of rejection that we won’t take the chance? Or is it merely the ease of online that lends itself to this old-fashioned friendliness? Are we too lazy to physically go meet our neighbors?
I am glad we are all so neighborly on here, but let’s take it a step further and show that same friendliness to the people we live beside, shop with, work with, and everyone else we come in contact with.
Here in the UK I think it depends vey much on the area where you live. Some areas are very neighbourly, others aren't. It's said, for example, that people in the north of England are much friendlier than those in the south (what a generalisation!)
Online, it doesn't matter where anyone lives, we're all neighbours in cyberspace.
good point, well said. Some of my real life friends think blogging is weird, so it's something I don't share with them. It's reassuring to chat with like minded souls who understand what it means, and offer support rather than derision. Sue@JumpingAground (Alliteration & drabbles)

I live in the North of England and can vouch for the friendliness of the neighbours. It's the same on a blog – if you set out to be neighbourly your contacts will return. The one problem I find with the A-Z there are too many to visit every day.
Hmm. Neighborly. A good thing for me to practice. Not that I am not friendly because I am. But I don't know most of the people on my block except for a couple. I work all day and come home and write at night before collapsing so I don't get ot know my neighbors. I think I will make it a priority. Nice post. You jogged me into action.
Unfortunately, in the world we live in, you have to be careful whom you admit into your circle of friends (for you and your family's protection)…in real life or in cyberspace.
I think in the neighborhood or in cyberspace, it is what you make it. Perhaps the anonymity of cyberspace allows you to take a peek without anyone seeing you. At home, you will be seen and see others you whether you like it or not. My take on it is that there are friends and neighbors to be made everywhere; it's up to me to take the initiative.
Blogging neighbors are the best. They never overstay their welcome. LOL
Glad my letter finally made it to you, it seems to have taken a few weeks though and that means you have another hot on its heels LOL. I am so glad people came to visit you after I shared my linky love, I may not always comment but I stop by here every day :))
I hope you are enjoying the challenge, I sure am (except I still need x, y and z's posts eek!) you have done so well with yours. Thanks for your support on my Never say Never post too, I appreciate it so much!
I too find it so much easier to get to know folks in blogland than in real life. I tend to be much braver about sharing my real self here. But you are so right, we need to reach out to the folks in our offline lives too! (I refuse to say real lives, because I know my blog friends to be real, genuine folks just like me!)
