Post Mother’s Day
I had a very nice Mother’s Day. My children were home, we had a nice cookout with my mother-in-law at my sister-in-law’s house, and I felt very grateful to be a mom. My kids make me laugh (like when I look at this picture) and they make me smile at the really cool people they have become.
Today I was fixing a cup of coffee and decided to use my mother’s mug. Unlike myself who likes to collect coffee mugs from various places as souvenirs – my mother used one coffee mug for as long as I can remember. When she passed nearly 5 years ago, my father gave me her mug. It is plain, brown on the outside and white on the inside. No logos, no pictures, no words adorn it.
But it speaks volumes to me.
It means something beyond its looks.
Glad you had a good day with your kids.
A nice day with your family, and sweet memory of the mug. We cherish the little things in life most.
That sounds like a great day with your family. I love the mug you cherish, it is full of more than coffee. Father's Day this year falls on my birthday – my cherubs have plans 😉
Thanks for sharing the joy that your children bring you, and how much this memory of your mother means to you.
I've had a few good opportunities to spend time with my Mom and my family this month, and I'm cherishing them the more as I get ready to go off on sabbatical this summer, eight hour's drive away from all my family for six weeks… I think this may be the first time I've spent so long so far away from all of them in my whole life!
So happy to hear you had a wonderful Mother's Day! Like you, my wife also collects coffee mugs from all the wonderful places we've visited over the years. I can't tell you how many we have.
