Shopping in Oranjestad (Memories)
Look carefully and see the iguana |
Saturday morning dawned like the day before, beautiful, warm, and breezy. Stories of our colorful visitors (who came again) and the delicious buffet foods lured Jane out to join Sue and I for breakfast. Fresh fruit, Eggs Benedict (I don’t usually eat many eggs, but these were so good!), coffee, samplings of the buffet and a Mimosa (they had orange juice and champagne out so you could make your own) fortified me for the task ahead – shopping.
I love these buildings! |
Taking the golf cart transport across the resort property, we started our quest. We managed to work through the open air markets, the Royal Mall (where Sue bought me a lovely Delft bowl from a store called Little Holland), and various stores in town. I loved checking out the architecture as much as shopping. We had lunch at The Old Fisherman, which was good, but overpriced and the service rather slow. It’s the only place we ate all weekend that I would probably not recommend – for those reasons. More shopping followed lunch and then we headed back once more to the hotel for a rest before dinner.
