Got Blood?

January 11, 2009 by Sheila Siler

So – I gave blood last Friday to the American Red Cross. It’s been over two years since I did that. I went to Israel two years ago (February 2007) and then I had to wait a year before I could give blood again. I tried once but my iron was low, and by then I just got out of the habit. I had fear this time I wouldn’t be able to again, but I was accepted and Pat (the blood tech) was able to get my vein to cooperate so that I could give my pint. I really do like being a part of that – it’s an easy way to make me feel like I am doing something to help the community at large. I hope I never need it, but it’s nice to know there are people who are willing to share of themselves in case I do. If you haven’t given blood before – think about it.
