Do I Talk (Blog) TOO Much?
I signed up for the A to Z Blogging Challenge as many of you know. In following the sponsors of said challenge, I read an interesting comment on one (well, I’ve read LOTS of interesting comments) that has stuck with me. The commenter said that blogging every day was too much- that no one had that much to say (unless you were perhaps Jesus, with the inference that Jesus would have better things to do than blog, which I expect is true).
I haven’t always blogged every day, that’s actually been a pretty recent development. Why have I started doing that? I think it’s for a couple of reasons. One) is the discipline of writing. I enjoy blogging and feel good when I post. Two) is that I don’t expect all of my “followers” to read me every day, just if a headline grabs their attention – so I try to give them opportunities. I think of my blog like a newspaper. People pick it up and decide which articles to read each day. Somedays they read all of it, some days just a little bit, and some days not at all – but it’s nice knowing you have the choice.
So, what about you? Do you read blogs every day? Do you post every day? Have you thought about it? Do you care?
I read blogs every day; it's something that I really enjoy. But I only post when something I write moves me. Could be 3 days in a row followed by nothing for a week. I think everyone should just do things at their own pace. You won't please every reader/follower, and you shouldn't try. Just be you!
There are certain blogs that I have read everyday for years. I like to post daily, it makes me feel good and its my outlet. I dont really mind if people read or not. Dont get me wrong its nice when people leave a comment and let me know they are around, but thats not why I blog.
Blogging is all about the writer, what they want to do, what they want to talk about. Just worry about what makes you feel happy 🙂
I have two blogs. One is a photography blog for my business, and the other an inspirational blog from my quiet times. Both have a purpose- the inspirational helps me spend more time in the Bible and hopefully encourage others. It also gets me stretching my writing legs. I post on it M-F. I need to take the weekend off from my freelance work. For my photography blog, I post on it less often. One reason is I want my best photos out there and don't want to get sloppy. It's in conjunction with my portfolio. Eventually I'll do an artist blog and put out some of my paintings. What keeps me going is I have a purpose and goal for each blog- so I know what to do and when. I love reading other people's blogs and do everyday, try to comment. Particularly ones that are in a genre I enjoy. I enjoy your writing Sheila and your personality. You're easy to relate to and come up with interesting ideas. You're like a good friend I can count on to be steady and fun.
When I first started blogging I posted daily to build an audience. And I always check my blog daily and visit others. There's not a day that goes by that I don't comment somewhere. And I have a ton to say if I can write it. If I have to speak, I have very little to say.
I usually blog every day, but generally mix up it up with what I blog about — books, poetry, faith, sometimes just fun stuff.
I blog roughly 5-6 days per week, and leave Sundays alone. As for reading blogs, yep. Not everyday, though, as I'm too busy with other duties. But I do enjoy reading and commenting on those people who take the time to read and comment on what I write/blog about.
I blog about two or three times a week, depending on how I feel. I enjoy reading blogs when I have time.
No to all the questions. But, I do all of them when I have time. I write on a few regularly 2-3 blogs a month. I have a blog for a couple of my novels, one for my art and famiy and one for our trucking life.
I periodically read blogs, forums, and websites. I do a little twittering and a lot of facebooking. I've. Read, no matter how often you blog be consistant if you want a following. I want a following. I don't write the blogs for myself.
Sheila a couple of things….1- I mentioned you in my blog, but in the first draft (which hopefully you didn't read) I called you Shirley… *hanging head in shame* I have since fixed it and even included a link to your blog. I don't have a lot of followers, but it might send some traffic your way…I hope so anyway.
Second: I think that it's good to blog on a regular basis. I think if you go too long without posting you lose the interest of your regular readers. The ones that come back to hear your voice. I personally don't do it everyday, but I think that if it works for you then why not!
