Gravy, Chocolate That Is . . .
http://foodbeast.com/content/ 2011/01/31/chocolate-gravy-biscuits/ |
My mom used to make the most incredible chocolate gravy for breakfast sometimes. Homemade biscuits were broken up on your plate and then chocolate gravy ladled over them. Wait a few minutes for it to soak up, and then start eating. Heavenly! I don’t know how often we had it, I know it was only for Saturdays and I truly don’t remember having it after age 12 or so . . .
I have tried a few times to make it, but it never came out right. Unfortunately even my mother couldn’t remember exactly how she had done it, so it seems to be lost. However, in writing this post I did a little research and found several recipes. None of them look exactly right, but I shall have to try them and see what corresponds with my memory!

Gravy is groovy. And so is chocolate. But the two together…I think I'd call it "sauce" … not as edgy but it's got teeth. LOL.
I do love gravy, though. White gravy over mashed potatoes. Making gravy is an art. My mother and grandmother had the knack. I'm getting better but no where close to their level of expertise.
My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I don't think I've ever had it myself but I believe my cousin was telling me about eating it recently. I might have to follow up on her lead. Don't you just hate it when you have something so good and you can't repeat it. I made a batch of cookies once which are legendary in me and husband's minds. That is what I get for free styling baking.
Never heard of chocolate gravy. Might be something to look into!
Chocolate gravy? Never heard of it either.
Way to decadent for me to try…I might like it!
Chocolate gravy… I think I just found heaven!
Loving A to Z.

I think your mom made it up! 🙂
Please excuse my British ignorance, but what are 'biscuits'? Our biscuits are your cookies (I think), which leaves me confused about you pouring gravy/sauce on them.
