Word of 2013 – DECISION
Many of the bloggers I follow have chosen a “word” for the year to be their theme of life. This doesn’t mean their blogs will revolve around this word necessarily, but they are choosing it as a life focus. I looked back to see if I did this last year and it appears that I intended to have a word a month. Obviously I fell out of the rhythm of doing that.
So I have decided to jump on the Word of the Year bandwagon. My word for this year is DECISION. It will be a year of decision. One where I decide if I am a novelist, a blogger, both, neither, a writer, an author, a hobbyist – all of which is okay, I just intend to come to a decision by the end of the year.
Will you jump on this bandwagon with us? Do you have a word for the year?
My word this year is love. Sounds so trite, but much thought and prayer did go into my choice.
Be a light, be a ladder, be a lifeboat…making this little saying something like my mantra for the new year. Happy 2013!
what a great idea! and a tough word! i see many choices looming in my future. i have to think of a good word that wont make me worry! peace? too cliche…must think!
happy 2013!
This is the second blog I've read today about choosing a word for the year! I think you people are very courageous – don't know that I could do that! But I think it's a step in the right direction for making the year be what you want it to be, instead of letting events just happen to you and going along with the flow. Maybe I need to look into this a little more – thanks for the thought! And you've already made your first decision…with "decision"!!!
Excellent word! I think this word thing is catching on.
If you visit Melanie @Onlyabreath.com she will make a cute button for your word to post on your blog. 🙂 Good Luck with your word.
My favorite word is 'hobo,' although I really don't think that'll work here.
Okay, then, how about 'Snarky?'
Decisions can be scary. But good to make them. Hope this year goes well for you! I think I need to decide to push past my fear of putting myself out there and release some work… what's the worst that can happen?? (OK, maybe shouldn't answer that). 🙂
It seems to me that a "Word for the Year" is much better than making a New Year's Resolution, which too easily becomes a negative thing when you don't keep the resolution.
I agree Gary, that's why I don't do resolutions, though I do have some "goals".
Al, we have teenagers still at home, and I'm pre-menopausal – so snarky is a word that gets used a lot in our house :).
Ohh decision is a good word and that will be a decision to make.
Last year my word was "enough" and this year my word is "open"–to be honest, I'm terrified what that could mean as "enough" cast me about most of last year. I feel like I have to be careful now! 🙂
I just wrote about my word of the year–last year's word–and I am MUCH more comfortable with choosing a word instead of making resolutions I KNOW I will not fulfill. Less pressure….
Also, you can be everything, Sheila! A novelist, a hobbyist, a blogger…sometimes I am just a donut-eater–and I am completely fulfilled. 🙂
Happy New year!
I love these word posts this year. Dang, I need to think of a word for 2013.
Mine is enjoy. My life is wonderful and even though there are new experiences I desire, I want to enjoy the ones that are already here to their fullest.
